In World Of Warcraft there are 8 classes to choose from, each are very different from the other. To keep each person who picked a certain class from becoming too much alike, they added in talent points.

Talent points help define players who choose the same class, to further define their character from the rest. For example, Mages are masters of Fire, Frost, and Arcane. a Mage may decide to become a specialist in the Frost and become a master in slowing down and even stopping enimies in thier tracks.

Although the mage can still cast Fire and Arcane spells they are much more efficient in the Frost spells, such as faster casting and more damage.

It is all based on personal preference but don't specialize just because someone says it is the best, experiment for yourself.
